Beyond the Books: Be SMART Campaign - Safe firearms storage
Join Shannon Goodrich and Eve Krzysik, friends and mothers in the Diocese of Joliet, for a conversation at 6:30 pm on March 18, utilizing materials backed by 10 years of research from the Be SMART campaign and what they've learned through six years of community conversations. The Be SMART campaign was launched 10 years ago to raise awareness that secure gun storage — storing guns unloaded, locked, and separate from ammunition — can save children’s lives. Be SMART emphasizes that it’s an adult responsibility to keep kids from accessing guns, and that every adult can play a role in keeping kids and communities safer. The live virtual session will allow for conversation and questions via chat. There will also be an opportunity to receive materials after the meeting for in-person presentations both in English and in Spanish.
